Obituary of James Edward Nutt.
LOCAL YOUTH DIES IN KOREA
A native Clarksburg youth, Sgt. James E. Nutt, 19, was killed August 10 in the Korean fighting, his parents were informed by telegram yesterday. Former residents of Northview, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Nutt moved about four months ago to Jarvisville. The telegram was from Maj. Gen. Edward F. Witsell for the adjutant general of the United States Army. A letter will follow, the general said. Young Nutt attended Northview schools and Victory high school. He enlisted in the army on his eighteenth birthday. After a short period of training here, he was sent to Japan to occupation duty. He was moved to Korea with the shift of troops there. Mr. and Mrs. Nutt recently received a letter from their son, written August 8, two days before his death, in which he had proudly reported that he had been made a sergeant that day. The youth is survived by his parents, a brother, William "Billy," 11 and a sister, "Toots," 14 years old. The father is a driver of the Gregory and Poole Coal company.
NOTE: James Edward Nutt, was the son of John W. and Numa Opal (Reeves) Nutt.
