Anyone remember Billy Allen Hayes from the 179th, 45th Div?

Column_1_Spacer Column_2_Spacer
Larry Haley wrote on 2003-01-15 15:38:59.0

Comments: Allen Hayes as I knew him was my father's best friend. They grew up together in East Lynn, Illinois where now both my dad and Allen are buried side by side. Allen was killed in Korea and his gravestone has the military unit identification listed above. I am wanting to speak with any veteran of his unit who may have known him. He has kind of haunted my life. I was just a kid, finding it strange that someone I knew came back from war in a box. By the late 60s, I served in Vietnam and since my father has been dead since 1954, I can't ask him about Billy and how he died. If anyone knows, I would appreciate the contact over Larry Haley

Comments: I am doing research for a term paper and would like any personal accounts of Outpost Eerie no matter the length. I have been a volunteer of the 45th Infantry Division Museum for almost 5 years now. I have organized over 100 scrapbooks for safekeeping in the museum archives, have revised the museum collection management policy as an intern, and created a "Christmas at War" display that has ran for two consecutive years at the museum. I would like to turn my paper into a booklet to sell in the giftshop to benefit the museum. Please help in preserve Thunderbird History for future generations. Thanks. Please include full name, rank, and outfit information.

Comments: We are trying to put together the history of Outpost Queen in July of 53. Anyone who was there please send us any and all rememberances, no mater how trivial, of what happened to you there. Pictures, maps and positon sketches will be greatly appreciated. We are trying to piece together what happened in order to preserve that history. When completed it will be sent to the 45th Div Museum for preservation. We will send all contributors copies and acknowledge their contributions. Thank you
