Comments: I am looking for anyone who served with or under my great uncle, Roger E. Lemire. He was awarded the Silver Star on 5/27/1952 for gallantry in action near Chuja-dong, Korea and the Bronze Star during the Second Korean Winter. If you have any pictures, it would be most appreciated!

Comments: I'm Jon Peck, son of Don "Butch" Peck from Plainville Mass. My dad was in K Co, 224 Infantry. He was pretty recognizable as he only had two fingers on his right hand.

I was recently going through some of his things (he passed in 1990) and found many pictures of his time at Camp Cooke. Fortunately, he did a good job of labeling his pictures. I have some pictures taken in Feb 51 of Ed Shilo (Norwood MA), Tex Lenard, Al Stearns, Ed Ronach, Mike Russitti, Sgt Kaye, Tom Shea, Pete Rappaha, and Nick Interdernado. No guarentees on the spellings! Also there are various other base photos (barracks, chapel, 40th Inf Div Sign, etc.)

If you're interested in seeing them, please let me know.

Thanks

Jon

Comments: Hello,

My father in law is Roy Shiba. He served in the 224th HQ Company. He said that he started with the engineers and then became the driver and interpreter for the Hq Commander in Japan. I have a picture of him at Camp Cooke in 1950 before the unit deployed to Japan and then Korea. He does not have any other records and his service records were destroyed in the 1976 fire in St. Louis. I am trying to find a copy of orders or anything else to help establish his service. If you have anything or would like a copy of the picture. Please let me know.

Thanks!

Comments: I am looking for anyone who may have served with my uncle, Joseph E. Kickasola. He served in the 40th Division, 224th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion, I Company. I believe he was a 1st Sgt. He received a CIB with three battlestars. He arrived in Incheon Harbor on the U.S. Marine Adder. He is still living and I would love to track down some of his combat buddies. He mentioned Sgt. Walter Crider. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

Meri Bullock wrote on 2009-01-06 12:25:27.0

Comments: I'm trying to put together a shadowbox of my husband's late grandfather from his time in the Army. CPL Robert "Bob" Coleman was assigned to active duty from 18 Nov 1952 to 17 Nov 1954. My husband and I believe he went to basic at Ft. Jackson. In Korea, he served with Co. H, 224th Inf. Regt., 40th Inf. Div. We have copies of letters home and pictures of him and his buddies, including Don Cook from Darlington, PA, and a man named Bloom, among others. His ship passed by Japan on the way to Korea. I'm having a hard time finding the patches he wore throughout his time in the Army and was wondering if anyone knew of a place I could order them. I've scoured military shops in the Ft. Bragg area as well as e-bay and am having a hard time finding any. I am able to identify 2 of the 3 he once wore on his uniform (the Ball of Fire of the 40th Inf. Div. and the 224th crest.) The patch I can't identify must have been the patch from his place of separation, Ft. George Meade, as it is currently on his uniform. It is a red shield with a gold border, 2 gold A's, and a gold tree-looking thing or lightning bolt down the middle of the A's. I'm also looking for the blue "Korea" tab that he wore above the Ball of Fire patch, which I think I've found on e-bay, in a picture. Any help would be very appreciated! My husband was very close with his grandfather, and I'd very much like to complete the shadowbox for him. Also, if anyone knew Bob and has any stories, my husband and I, along with his family, would love to hear them. Thank you for any help!
