C Company soldier's Grandson looking for info

Comments: I have my Grandfather's service knife and on the sheath has been burned "C Co. 23rd Inf. Regt. 2nd Inf. Div. JBT"

His name was Joseph Bruno Tocchio. He was in Korea and we'd like to know more. Please help.

Comments: My father Pvc. Robert E. Szallavary/Sullivan died in Steubenville, Ohio in 1992; following having had a stroke. Please let me know if you served with him. Comments: George died in La Crecenta Ca. on April 27th after a long battle with cancer. He served in Korea from 1951 to l952. He had retired from Pacific Telephone in the late 80's and I met him then. We both had l951 Allards and raced them in many events here in California. Never much talked about his service and I regret now that I didn't quiz him more. He had written several papers that he wanted to place in a book about his service and I hope to read that soon. Comments: I am looking for any information on my grandfather, PFC George L. Gordon. He was killed on 5/15/1951 in Chaun Ni.

Would like to meet with anyone who knew him. Also, I would like to know if he was awarded any medals or such. If so how can I go about finding out how I could get replacements (if possible). A friend told me that I needed his 2-14 form. If so, how do I get that? ANY HELP that you could give me would be appreciated.

I have been searching on my own for many years, but have never found anything.

Comments: To those who may have met or knew my father, I just returned from the "states" where I, along with my siblings, both his families, and countless friends just buried my Dad: John Milton Seybert Jr.. As some of you know Bud suffered a major heart attack back in 2000; the prognosis at that time was not good, but my pop was a fighter and he took nearly 9 more years.

On Tuesday last, the 17th of February Pop's heart gave up that struggle and he drew his last breath holding my sister Michelle's hand, that was at 15:09 CST.

John Bud Seybert Jr. was born on the 17th of December 1928 in Granite City, IL. He graduated from Granite City High School in 1945, before securing employment as a machinist at the American Steel Foundry in West Granite where he met Pete Condis, who later married my Dad's oldest sister Ellen.

In 1950 Bud was drafted into the United States Army's, 23rd Infantry, where he served with distinction in Korea as a Staff Sergeant. He saw combat at "Bloody Ridge" and "Heart Break Ridge", where he was wounded and won the Purple Heart.

After surviving the war with an honorable discharge, Bud returned to Granite City where he met and married Beverly Hall in 1955. Fathering five children in 24 years of marriage.

Bud graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1956 with a Bachelor's degree in Geology (a passion he pursued all his life) and went on to employment at the Defensive Mapping Agency as a cartographer, a position he held for 30 years, until he retired in 1986.

For many years Bud, "ran the desk", managed Bowland Bowling Lanes out on route 203 as a second job and a social outlet for his gregarious personality.

In 1988, Bud married Margaret Dorch in a ceremony in Las Vegas, NV. They have resided in Granite City, IL. for the last 20 years, where they were active in many veterans organizations, including VFW, American Legion and DAV Post 53, where Bud served as President until his death. He was a hero, my Pop! And he will be sorely missed by me, my siblings, both his families, and countless friends.

Chipyong-ni Feb 1951

Comments: Pop is in the high ground in Arlington. I am sitting on many notes and color slides of Chipyong-ni and the East Coast Brigade. Looking for anyone who was in C Company (Charlie Co) 23rd Infantry Regiment Feb 51 or the East Coast Brigade TF Kirkland Mar-Dec 1951. Looking for his Platoon members or superiors.

At Chipyong-ni he was across from the French Battalion. In TF Kirkland he trained North Korean partisans.

Comments: I am working on a movie script based on my fathers book, "The Three day Promise." Robert Stirling

Comments: My uncle Bob (Robert Stirling) was an Army Veteran who was severely wounded in the Korean War by a mortar round. According to this website (Korean War Project - Dallas - Texas), uncle Bob was in the 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division and he was wounded on July 29, 1952 in North Korea and evacuated.

Uncle Bob passed away on 16 October 1983.

I'm posting this asking if anybody out there knew Bob and where in North Korea he was wounded.

need help with proof of claim for disability

Comments: on or about jan. 1951 somewhear in nortn keroa. i was 1st gunner on 4.2 hv. mortar. sometimes earley in the am. we had been on a fire mission for hours. the temp. was below freezing, and after several hours i just passed out. i woke up the next day in the first aid tent. i was returned to duty that same day. i was not effected by the frostbite to my feet for many years. but now that i am an old man of 76 years of age, i am having a lot of pain in my feet. i would appreciate it if anyone rembers this incedent, and would be willing to send me a letter, stating this, as proof to help me get some disiability comp.

Comments: Looking for CHORWON old baldy survivors that were evacuated during the 1000 artillery rounds per hour barrage that made the Army press corp announcements. Stars and Stripes Reporter that talked to my Father and was on the Issue Cover.He would like to meet some of the men he pulled off baldy during the barrage. He was B companys medic. My dad 23 INF RGT 2 INF DIV

Comments: I am looking for my dad. Thanks to the people here at the KWP, I have found his casualty listing.

My dad's name is James A. Browne. He suffered a rather bad wound to the groin area on May 18, 1951. I am just trying to find some of his friends who may still be in contact with him.

We lost touch years ago and he has a grandson (one of several grandchildren) who is anxious to meet him. Ryan is now a Marine, like is father was, but proudly continuing the family tradition of service to our country.

If anyone out there knows Jim Browne (not the football player/actor) please get in touch with me.

Korean War research?

Comments: I recently was informed that my Grandfather was at Heartbreak Ridge during the Korean War. Where would be the best place to begin to research his military service? I don't have much info to work with.
