Comments: I would like to correspond by email with anyone who knew my Uncle, SFC Chester Stephenson, who was killed in action somewhere in Korea on September 1, 1950. I want to carry on his memory and educate others in the family. If there is anyone who reads this and knew Uncle Chester please take time to email me at admrom@aol.com and lets talk. Korea is called "the Forgotten War" but we must never let our memory of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice die. Thanks in advance to any who can give me info. Clyde H. (Herbie) Ball US Navy Veteran USS Ingraham DD694

Names in a Bible |

Comments: My father, Ira Lee Pemberton JR. (Junior to his friends) served with the 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Division Company H from August 1951 to June 1952. He returned home in December of 1952, was married in July of 1953. He was blessed to have 4 children, and being home from war for 11 years, was killed in a accident. I was but 16 months old. Some of his personal items have been passed down to me, one of them being a small bible that he carried during combat in Korea. It is warn and curved, probably from being carried in his back pocket. Inside the pages of this small worn bible, are some names of people that must of touched his life, serving side by side in combat.
James Crook- Arkansas A.B. Mayfield Texas Ernest Wilkins Indiana Reese H. Brooks Alabama C. Brewsaugh JR. Ohio Domingo Santos California Louis F. Duncan- Missouri or Mississippi Francis F. McMankes (?) New Jersey Francis J. Frider Minnesota Robert Post Washington Jack Neelon California Bill Blackwell California Austin Arnold Texas Don Ferris Missouri
Just names in a bible, but meaningful to the one that inscribe them in such an honorable place. Please contact me if you know of anyone on this list of names. Debbie at gdkats@aol.com

Comments: Dear Sirs: My step-dad, Jesse C. Botello, served with the 23rd. Inf. Regt., from when the unit was at Ft. Lewis, then on to Korea in 1950, and returned home to San Antonio in 1952. He served with the HHQ Company, 23rd Inf. Regt, as an infantryman and saw action at just about every major battle the 23rd. was involved in. Does anyone remember him? He was propably 25-26 years old at the time. He had a best friend named Isador Gutierrez from Los Angeles, California, who was killed on or about September 1, 1950, while on recon. patrol. Any news you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for the brave and selfless service you gave to our wonderful country under extremely difficult conditions. Anyone who saw action with the 23rd. is a hero. Too bad this country has never honored you in a manner befitting your wonderful service. To me, and all other Infantrymen, you guys are a legend. I only hope that we did our part in Vietnam in keeping with the tradition of service you guys established as a benchmark. God Bless you all, and God Bless the 23rd. Infantry Regiment, and the 2nd. Infantry Division.
