Comments: I'm looking for anyone who might have been part of my unit from June 1950 to July 1951. In the winter of "50 '51 I spent a month in a hospital in Sasabo, Japan due to burns on my face. When I returned to my unit I found out they had been north to the reservoir and about half or more of my company were gone. I felt like a stranger. I was a SFC in charge of a 60mm mortar squad. Today we had rice for supper. I told my wife that almost every time I eat rice I think of Korea, and of the Chinese who carried balls of the stuff wrapped in newspaper. They left their dead and wounded--we never did.
Keywords: Hill 193, Chipyongnee. Being in defense of the Han River. Im sorry, I can't remember any names of my buddies. Actually, because of the dreams I've had I can't separate fantasy from reality. At Chipyongnee three members of my squad took a direct hit-we found body parts of two, and the legs were gone on the third.

Comments: My Dad, Don Mervicker, would like to speak with anyone who knew his Uncle, Sgt. Robert L. Mervicker, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. Sgt. Mervicker was KIA on 1 Sept. 1950 during the battle at Naktong River. Joe Stryker, Berry Rhoden, and Terry McDaniel were also there at that time and survived. I know this from an article I read ("Only a Few Came Home")that was written in 2004 by author David Halberstam who interviewed these three brave men. Hopefully they will get this message and contact me, or anyone else with any information. It would be greatly appreciated. It means alot to my Dad. Thank you for your help.

Keywords: I would like to know if anyone was in the same unit and knew my brother, Sgt Eugene L Ottesen. He was MIA in the Korean War on 02/03/1951 and then declared dead on 02/18/1954. I would just like to know anything about him, as I was 7 years old at the time, so I don't know much about him. I would like to have some closure if I could. I heard from my parents and my older siblings that he was captured by the enemy and that is all I know and that his body was never found. He was in the battle of Panmunjom. I have found the book "The Bloody Road to Panmunjom" and have read a little about what he did.
Thank you so much.

Comments: I am looking for anyone with any information on my father and of the great men he knew and served with in the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea from 1951-1952. All his military info was burned in a fire at the US Army Records Dept back in the early 1970's. And all the info he has was lost in a house fire back in the 1960's. My father received a Bronze Star for his actions on Dec. 23, 1951 by Kumgong-Ni Korea, but he only gave us little details about it. My father passed away back in 2001 from cancer and I am trying to make a family album on him for my kids and other family members. He trained at Camp Stewart GA. and was sent to Korea in Sept. of 1951. If anyone knew him, served with him, was in his unit or has any information that could help me out, please contact me at konsdorf@msn.com. Thanks, Darrin Konsdorf, .
