Comments: I am looking for anyone who may have served with my dad Elmer Johnson. He has passed away and he never talked much about his experience in Korea. All I have to go on is a blurred copy of the DD214 discharge papers, the Tropic Lightning patch and a Wolfhound pin from his old uniform. He was from Wisconsin but entered the service in Minneapolis on Aug. 21, 1951 and served 10 months in Korea with the 25th Div, 27th Inf, Regt., Co. "A". I'm trying to find anyone who may have served in this unit. Even if you didn't know him I would like to know what the unit may have experienced so I can have an understanding of my father. He was always very proud to have served his country in time of need. Any information you can provide would be helpful.

Looking For WILLIAM L. MILANO |

 |
DEAN L. Richards wrote on 2004-06-14 15:19:34.0
Comments: I am looking for William L. Milano of The 27th Inf. Regt. 25th Div. I & R. Or anyone that can give me some information about a November 6, 1950 I&R mission which resulted in an ambush. My Uncle, PFC Donald R. Richards was part of this mission, in which he is listed as KIA on this website. I have spoken to Arthur D. Montgomery and he states that he spoke with William Milano last year. I have a list of all casulties and KIA for the27th Inf. Regt. 25th Div. that day and an Associated Press story which depicts an atrocity which occurred that day and my family is very interested to find out the details of that mission. The headline reads "Reds Give Apples to 15 U.N. Soldiers, Murder 14". When my uncle died, my grandmother didn't want the specifics' and my uncle's siblings were too young at the time. His remain's didn't arrive back home for several months' after the family's notification and well after his memorial service. The remaining family survivors'! did want and still do want the details of that day if anyone can assist us in anyway. The Army states that Donalds records were destroyed in The St. Louis fire of 1973, which doesn't make this any easier and thus I am forced to reach out to you folks. I realize this is a hard account to have to recall and a lot to ask of anyone who was there, but this is the only resource I can think of. I have found transcripts' of The Senate Committee Hearings' (Senator McCarthy) in which William Milano was interviewed in late 1953 but the information is vague at most and doesn't contain the investigation reports' conducted by The 8th Army Investigation Team looking into the events. A professor I spoke with states that there is a lot more information out there and any assistance I can get will be greatly appreciated. God Bless each and every one of you for your valiant service to this country. All of you are heros' in my eyes and those of my family. America is forever indebted to you all! . Thank you, Dean Richards

We are using a picture of my mother-in-law at Allen's grave in Goshen, Ind. I would like to know where he was killed 31 Aug. 1951. I know he was buried temporarily at Tanggok. Don't know where that is or if it was even close to where he was killed. Any information would be appreciated.
