Comments: I am looking for any information on Arlton (Art) Hull. He was my grandfather. He was 25 when he died on July 11, 1953 on Pork Chop Hill. My dad was three weeks old when he died. He didn't even know he had a son who was named after him. My dad does not know anything about his father's life and would like any information from anyone who knows of him or has pictures. The only picture we have is the wedding picture to my grandmother who has now passed. She did not like to talk about him (too painful). Thank you for any information.

Comments: To the Grandson looking for anyone that might remember ELMER WILLIAMS: I'm curious if Mr. Williams is from the Severna Park, MD area. My father, Robert Mintz, had a korean War buddie that lived near us when I was young. I only recall that I called him either Mr. Williams or Mr. Williamson. Mr. Williams was also in Love Co. We moved from MD about 1974 and we lost touch with Mr. Williams after that. My father passed away in 1977.
To anyone that might know: Is there some place I can find a roster for 32nd inf, Love Co.? Also is there a listing of the major assignments of Love Co? ( I'm sure the Army has one, but do they give family members access to it? ) Can someone please tell me the significance of the ascott (scarf) with the emblem on it I've seen on my dad in some of his Korean War Photos.
I would also like to give a big THANK YOU to DON MAXELY for taking the time to write about that event with K and L Co.'s on Pork Chop Hill. Little bits of information like that is precious to those of us who miss our Heros.
Thank you! Cindi Mintz O'Conor

I have specific interest in C co 32nd Infantry because my Grandfather, CPL Carroll Burgess, served in it - although possibly not at Chosin. I do not know if he was in Korea before Dec. 1950. I am searching for any veterans or others with information about the battalion or my grandfather. My email addresses are benjamin.boekestein@us.army.mil, and bcboek02@yahoo.com. My phone number is (270) 498-0994. This is of interest for my paper and also my family, my grandfather died in 1959 and not much is known of his military service.

Comments: Looking back over the years and remembering Korea saddens me to think that we had to lose so many men. Here we are over fifty years later and we are involved in another conflict. A Korea veteran has never complained about his service in Korea to my knowledge. Yet he has been cast aside as if he never existed or was ever in a war. News Media will and have been comparing wars. There is no justification in comparing one conflict from the other. I am sure the men who fight these wars will agree with me that any war there are no real winners. There are only victors who by the blood of the soldiers who lost their lives can we claim a victory. But what about that soldier who's blood we are speaking? Don't forget the other soldier who's blood was shed. It is a sad fact that there are no winners when both sides record the deaths of the men involved in any war. There are no winners just loosers and it is always sad to see the list of our dead in the news every day. I have always tried to keep from telling war experiences to the members of my family. It has been many years and I remember clearly many of my experiences in Korea. I wouldn't consider them any more dangerous than my buddies. If you want to know how I feel about danger in Korea let me explain. I have always said that anyone and I mean anyone who set foot on that peninsula during those three years was in "DANGER" and you didn't have to be on a front line position. Korera was a hostile land with it's terrain and it's crazy weather. Not to mention a land so far back in time It was difficult to survive for our men who lived in the twentieth century and were thrust into the past. Korea at the time had no paved roads no and electric was sparce and the people who lived in the small villages farmed. Not much in the way of what we were used to back home. I am glad that I served and made it home safe. What I am not happy about is the guys that we left behind. I will never forget them until the day we meet again I am sure of that. Comments: Is there anyone who remembers or took part in the assault on Star Hill which was in front of outpost Harry, sometime during July or August 1952. I believe this was an all volunteer ranger unit organized only from men in the 32nd regiment. I believe they were called Dodd's rangers and the time that was required was 6 weeks in this outfit, and you were then elligible for rotation home(if you survived). This assault took place around 12-1 p.m. and involved about 2 squads from this unit who made the assault, which was supported by artillery and men who were on outpost Harry. The outcome of this assault unfortunately resulted in the rangers having been hit with very heavy Chinese mortor, artillery and small arms fire to withdraw. I witnessed this event. If anyone took part in this event or has knowledge of this outfit, would like to hear from you.

My nine month Combat Tour in Korea in 1950! |

JAMES R. Keith wrote on 2005-05-27 00:00:00.0
Comments: My first enlistment in the US Army was in 1946, for 18 months spent in Rome, Italy. Upon termination of this enlistment, I re-enlisted in the US Army Reserve for three years. I was recalled to Active Duty on 21 Oct. 1950, as a result of the, so called, "Korean Police Action;" reporting to Ft. Bragg, NC. On 21 Nov 1950, after a short refresher course at Ft. Hood, TX, in; inter alia, "Open Field Running;" hopefully, while advancing to the north and not while "Burning a path to the Rear to Change My Undies" and "Bayonet Tactics!" On 21 Dec. 1950, I shipped from Sasebo, Japan to Pusan, Korea, where I was first introduced to enemy fire. After nine months of combat, I became eligible for rotation back to the States; which is where the "Open Field Running Refresher Course" had came in handy earlier! As - when I received the word that I was going home, for discharge at Ft. Bragg, NC, on 9 Oct. 1951, I took-off south in a dead run, like a stripped-fannied ape, before anyone could change my rotation date; shedding my combat gear and clothing as I ran, from my Unit in the field, to the home bound rotation ship, birthed at the Port of Pusan!
Keywords: "Charlie Company" was known as the "Cold Steel Company," because of the constant fixing of bayonets in their daily offensives against the hords of North Korean and Chinese to the north!

Keywords: BATTLE OF HAMAN PASS/February 1951
I am trying to find out information about my father, Leo Lupton, a master sergeant who was killed in the Korean War, Feb. 4, 1951. He was from North Carolina. I was only 3 years old when he died and I have very little information about him other than a newspaper obituary. He was commended for "meritorious service" July 5-Nov. 2, 1950 for courage and leadership at the battle of Haman Pass. Newspaper said, "Sergeant Lupton held his men in position the face of fanatic enemy attacks until the wounded men of the company could be evacuated." I do not know where my father was killed either. I am trying to put together a memoir of his letters based on the history of his involvement in the Korean War.
If anyone knew my father, or could tell me anything about the involvement of Company B, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, please answer.
Thanks, Don Lupton Katy, Texas

Comments: After more than fifty years there isn't much I can say about the treatment we received from our own govern- ment. I guess it will be many years after we are all gone that we will finally be recognized as "Dog Face Soldiers, who were really involved in a war not a "POLICE ACTION." After all is said and done I wouldn't trade one mimute of my service for all the tea in China. Out that mess I have made so many dear friends. The only problem is time has drained our energy and we are slowly becomming extinct. God bless all the men and women who set foot in Korea for one reason or another. We can be proud of our accomplisments as you view the South Koreans cities and economy. All you dog faces stand tall, we did a magnificant job, ask any South Korean.
