Comments: My Father, Michael De Maria enlisted originally in the 1st Cav. in 1948. He transferred to the 7th Inf. 32nd Regiment between 1949 and 1950. He was wounded behind enemy lines with six others on September 26, 1950 while returning with ammo during the battle of Seoul. A korean family sheltered them until a patrol came two days later.

DONALD (DON) Maxey wrote on 2001-07-23 03:38:47.0
Comments: We need to document & compile the actions of the 32nd. Regt. missing from S.L.A. Marshall's classic book Pork Chop Hill. His very excelent studies of patrol actions (2nd.half of book)and Pork Chop battle reports were evidently limited to his stay with the 7th Division during April & May of 1953. Two of the night patrol actions are vivid, but tragic, accounts of 31st. Regt. patrols: "Hexed Patrol" and "Doomed Patrol" that occured along the same long ridge running north from the MLR Hill 172 down to the Yok-kok-chon that had been previously held by the 32nd's K & L? Companies. Marshall's description of actions along check-point knobs Ace, King, Queen, & Jack will be eerily haunting to those who lost buddies and blood along this same bony finger; where we were channelized by our own unmarked mine fields, and steep terrain, directly into Chinese ambushs. Jack, the last knob, was actually closer to the Chinese MLR than to ours. Lieutenants Turner and Montagnolo each had patrols ambushed on or near Jack. Both patrol leaders and many of their men were KIA or MIA. This appalling lack of shareing hard-learned combat experiences between front line units and their replacements was s.o.p. Often, COs and Platoon Leaders of the relieving units were held back for "staff meetings" at Bn. or Regt. Hqs. Please help me locate anyone familiar with these events or the vets listed in the keyword section. Perhaps we can get together.

Comments: I am a US History teacher at West Nottingham Academy in Colora, MD. One of our alumni, COL Richard R. Hallock, was a member of the 32d in Korea. In fact, we are in the process of researching his medals from Korea and WWII. His widow has donated them and we are preparing a formal ceremony for this coming Tuesday the 22d.
Our main focus is on two medals, the Haile Selassie medal, received by COL, (then MAJ) Hallock from the Kagnew Battalion, which we have found a good deal of material on, and the Bronze Star w/V, which COL Hallock received for his actions in the Hill 598/Triangle Hill Battle. We have had a hard time finding information on that one.
If anyone has any information to share we would be most grateful.

Comments: For a study of the casualties incurred by TF Faith (31st Regimental Combat Team) from 27 November 1950-03 December 1950, I would like help in determining individuals unit assignments.
Using the KWP and a 7th Division site I have been able to populate databases with the information related to the units of TF Faith. However these records only provide unit information to the regiment level. In order to make sense of the records as they relate to TF Faith I need to find an individual's Battalion, Company/Battery and Platoon level (if possible) for the units listed below.
I am particularly interested in obtaining copies of contemporary documentation (rosters, morning reports, special orders, reports, letters, etc.) that may aid in these identifications. Lists of names and unit designations of individuals that you recall would also be of interest.
HQ and HQ Co. 31st Reg. 31st Tank Co. 31st HM Co (firing platoons and HQ) Service Co. Medical Co. 31st Inf. 1 platoon C Co., 13th Engineers

Comments: Hello, My name is Richard I'm looking for info on my Grandfather He was SFC Arthur McMillian was with 32nd Inf. 7th Div. BUT they did not get to Korea until Sept ,1950 . He died of wounds on July 15 ,1950 so he must have been sent to another unit. His records were destroyed in a fire some time later in St. Louis,Mo.All I know is that he was a Light Weapons Squad Leader with the 32nd Sgt.First Class if you could help in this search it would be of great help to my mother and I . All she can tell me is that he sent her silk pajamas from Japan that was dated about 2 weeks before the date of death . This arrived 2 months after telegram notifcation of death .She was 8yrs. old at this time and remembers reporters around as she was the first war orphan. There are no letters home with any other post marks ,no pictures with any insignias .You were where I think he was maybe you knew him was probably only around for a week but maybe . He went by Mac his full name was SFC. Arthur Jennings McMillian . D.O.W. 07/15/1950 if you can help or know a way to find any thing please email me at mtchief@earthlink.net God Bless. Thanks, Richard Out

Comments: All my reserch placed my Uncle in and around Hill 1221 east of the Chosin Reservoir around Hudong-ni. The latest information I have was he was bringing supplies up to the front lines in a 2 1/2 ton truck and was killed in a mortar attack. This info was given to me in Dec. 2000. This is the first information I received about my Uncle actually being killed and not taken as a POW. I know there are some veterans out there that have more information about my Uncle. I pray that I will hear the whole story one day no matter what the details reveal.
Good bless
Gary Morando
