Comments: I was in a long range radar section of 8 or 9 men attached to Headquarters Battery of the 37th AAA Battalion. Our section was physically located with C Battery in Yokohama in the first part 1955 and in Fukuoka late 1955 and 1956. I want to apologize to Sgt. Don Holley, Bill Burnison and the others in our section for not making up for the work they did for me while was away playing basketball on the Itazuki Airbase Team.

Comments: would like any military info on my father Roy Winferd Rice, from Holley Oregon. Had a twin brother, Charles Willard Rice. He was in Japan. He was PFC. If you knew him, I would like any information. He died in the early 1992 and I know very little about his military experiences. Thankyou, his daughter, Terri Rice Lanini

Comments: I reached Japan in March 1950 and after attending an Army school in Etta Jima, Japan was assigned to a new outfit, the 8th Army Gun Battalion. I was one of the first 10 men assigend.

When the Korean War broke out we had less than 100 men in the Battalion. We was not combat ready, and they changed us to the 37th AAA, and assigned us to The Japan Longistical Command.

I was oridignally in D battery, and since we had so few men, we housed a lot of GIs sent from the states. I believe the troops were from Fort Bliss, Texas.

In 1951 I transfered to A battery, and in March 1952 I went to Korea. In Korea, I was assigned to A battery, 15th AAA, 7th Div.. I was on Half-Track #221 (Sick Call).
