Comments: We're still searching for any information about PFC. Charles D. Frisz. He was KIA 1 Nov 1950, but not returned home to the good old USA for burial until 1954.Since his parents have long since passed away, the siblings don't have ssn- that makes everything nigh impossible this day,& time.I have been referred to seek a copy of the book "Hills of sacrifice".This book is out of print,& the publisher is not planning to reprint. If anyone who reads this knows where a copy can be obtained please let us know; if anyone has one, & would'nt mind we would like info on F co 2d Bn 5th RCT around, or at least before Nov 1950,& any mention of Charles Frisz. Thanks for all your help.

Comments: Hi: I'm seeking anyone who knew Earl Miller (see below). Any info you can provide will be helpful for his hometown local hist. soc. vet exhibit. He has no close family surviving. Thanks in advance. *MILLER, EARL K. Citation: The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Earl K. Miller (RA23948945), Private, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy of the United Nations while serving with Company G, 2d Battalion, 5th Regimental Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division. Private Miller distinguished himself by extraordinary heroism in action against enemy aggressor forces near Chindong-ni, Korea, on 4 September 1950. On this date, when his position was overrun by the enemy and he was unable to withdraw without abandoning his .50 caliber machine-gun, Private Miller carefully placed a hand grenade in the receiver of his weapon, knowing that it was an extremely dangerous operation, and pulled the pin. In the ensuing blast he received fatal wounds, not being able to get far enough away from the grenade before it exploded. Private Miller's heroic act was responsible for denying the enemy the use of a vital piece of equipment and was ultimately responsible for saving the lives of many of his comrades during the counterattack. He drove a jeep and was wounded in a battle in April of 1951 of which only a few men survived. He received a purple heart and was medically discharged with shrapnel injuries. He is still living in eastern NC and would like to hear from anyone that served with him. All he ever said was "It was Cold in Korea". Anyway, I'd be interested in chatting with any of his old buddies who might have served with him or maybe knew the story about how he cracked up the General's Jeep in Hawaii! You can see pictures of him in Korea and throughout his life at: http://i5.nyu.edu/~am26/photos/daddys_family/ Many thanks, Annie McDermott
