Does anyone remember the incident? I know this probably occurred more than once in the war but I don't find his name listed as WIA on this site.

Comments: I am trying to find any information about my grandfather. My grandmother is South Korean and my grandfather was Italian American. All I know for sure is that he was serving near Seoul in 1956-1957. His name was Jack Watts and may have been a Major in the Marines. My mother was born Sept. 5, 1957. She has some memories of her father, but he came back to the U.S - possibly to Michigan in 1959-1961. My mother and grandmother moved while he was gone and she never saw him again. I believe my grandmother worked for him as a secretary. I would love to hear from anyone who may have any information that would be helpful.

Comments: Am trying to help my husband prove he was indeed in Korea during 1957-1958 at the Hialeah Compound in Pusan Korea. He was a young man. Lost all proof in the fire at ARPERCEN in 1973. He tells of a General Decker and his boat. He was in cold storage and also an SG. Rode the train that brought stuff into compound as SG. He mentions a Cprl. Brite, a James Stewart, a Frank Peoples, and a couple others. Has pictures of himself and friends but was told he could have been in Japan for all they knew. Would like to know if the uniform in Japan was an OD or an OG and maybe how I can get info for self. Anything would help at this point. Thanks much.

Comments: I was staioned at Advance Canp from Dec. '55 to Apr. '57 (16 months). I was assigned to Security For six months and then to Escort for the remainder of my tour. With Security we were responsible for patroling the road from the camp to the Conference Area and Bridge of No return. With Escort, we were responsible for the protection of all the conference negotiators and top dignitaries. Escort consisted of a lead jeep, the sedan carrying the dignitary, and a tail jeep. We were heavily armed in the event of an incident. It was good duty and got us off the "Rockpile" of Advance Camp. I was fortunate to serve with a great bunch of guys. We were very close knit. I hope that anyone that served with me will contact me. I had a mini-reunion with three in '04, but would like to hear from others. Thank you.

Comments: Would like to hear from anyone who remembers me while serving there. Remember everyone lifting the Quanset huts by hand and loading them on a flatbed on moving day in 1955? How about (don't remember his rank) Blacknorre from the Turkish unit up the road? The 'slicky boy' hanging in front of the Turkish unit until a chaplin asked them to cut him down? How about the visit from Rita Moreno (USO)at Base Camp? The Red Cross bringing coffee and donuts to the compound each month (nice break from routine)? I attended the I Corps NCO Academy at Uijongbu while there.

John Gary is another veteran he is looking for any information on. He has been trying to get in contact with anybody in the Us Army 25th division-24th infrantry regiment that served in the Korean War back in the 1950's. Comments: I spent 1954 on three AN/TRC-4 radio relay sites in Korea. The only two I remember are Rickey and Highpoint. I have lost my memory of the great guys that I served with during that wonderful tour in Korea. Traveling these mountains was something that few people in the service have ever done and I loved every minute of it. I returned to Korea in 1961 as a civilian and worked in KMAG for 6 years as a communications advisor. Some of my work took me back to one of the sites that I cannot remember the name of.

I was a still photographer from the 67th Reconnaissance Wing, Photo Lab, and was going along to cover the unit during the search. I have some negatives to give to a person who was assigned to the 60th A.R.S.
The aircraft that I flew on was a SC-47 SN-049565. Some of the crew were: LT. William Klesert, Pilot. Lt. William Edwards, Co-Pilot. Lt. Charles Payne. Enlisted crew personnel were: SSgt John Nielson and A1c Jenning Hibbard.

Comments: We conducted S&R (search and recovery) of temporary burials of combat KIA personnel on the North Korean Communist occupied side. Each morning we checked into the Panmunjom Headquarters on the DMZ to get pass to go into Communist side to do our searching for remains using our map overlay of battlefield site burials. We of course had to give up our side arms, wear a yellow arm band to signify we had permission to be on Commmunist territory side doing our work. We were guarded by Communist Soldiers with fixed bayonets. They would ask us for "tobako" (cigarettes). We were restricted to answer, and communicate with them.

"COMMEMORATION - TO MAJOR JOSEPH W. KELLY - FROM 73rd SIG. CONS. BN. ROKA"
I'm just trying to find info on what that might all be about -
Any insight into the abbreviations or such commemorative gift routines from Rep. Of Korea Army would be appreciated. My uncle passed away 35 years ago and I have many things from his tour of duty then - films too! - I'd just like to learn more -

My understanding is that Perry had two assignments to Korea and that he was there when I was born. Does anybody know him? He worked in the commissary/bx as an MP, and my mother was a cashier, there.
She couldn't remember the name of the base...it no longer exists. She couldn't remember his first name..possibly Alan? Alonzo? She couldn't remember what state he was from, either...Her name was Jung-Ja Lee. Any information about this matter, please email me. Thank You.

K-13 was in Wonju and K-55 was located inside the air base in Osan. I would like to locate anyone that may have been there at the time that I was there, our CO at base camp was Capt. Wilson, Masterson , Willie Newman,to name a few.
I left Korea on an emergency leave and never returned ,and never got to say good bye to all those guys.
I have heard from a couple of guys that were at Beason VHF and one that was at our base camp after I was there, but I would like to hear from anyone that was at these sites before or after I was there so we could chat about old times. we had a small VHF station at K-55 up on a hill looking down on the Base's mess hall that we enjoyed night and day. If there is anyone out there that was connected with company "D" long lines battalion please email me : AFDFYRBSTR@AOL.COM I would love to hear from you.

Comments: We arrived in Korea in April, 1954, and within 4 weeks were back at sea aboard the USS Bayfield for a Marlex Exercise. Embarking at Inchon, we proceed south in the Yellow Sea for several days, and then stopped and held. The rumor was that we were going to French Indo-China, where the siege of Dienbienphu was underway. However, we proceeded up the Sea of Japan and maded training landings on the beach at Koto-Ri near Yang Yang. Back in Korea, my section was usually attached to Item Company in the field. My Weapons Company Commander was Capt. Mays, who was also the Battalion Supporting Arms Controller. Item Company Commander was Capt. Parks. Our base camp was near the Imjin River near Libby Bridge. On July 27, 1954, the anniversary of the Truce, we were alerted to the possibility of a Chinese "jump off". Never happened. Oh and yes, the foe facing us across the DMZ were the Chinese, not the North Koreans. Finally a year later, in May, 1955, the entire 1st Mar Div deployed back to the States, to be stationed at Camp Pendleton, where I remained until returning to civilian life in September, 1956. My year in Korea was tense, and exciting. We saw no combat, but we were on the front line, in what was in those days, the most dangerous place in the world.
Keywords: I arrived in Korea with the 42nd Replacement Draft with Willie Bowling, (Willy One), Willie Daligon, (Willie Two), and Bob Beck, I was called "Manhattan". The four of us became ammo "humpers" in the 3rd Section, HMG. Sgt. Absdnider of Texas was Platoon Sgt. Other platoon members were, Curtis, Fontaine, "Doc" Cantrell, Foley, Firth. Later on came Gillespie and Gnapp and a new Platoon Sergeant Bearschwirld. First Seargeant was "Top", Tommy Thompson. Our section contained two squads organized around the .30 caliber M1917A1 Browning Heavy Machine Gun, (water cooled). Squad leaders and ammo "humpers" carried .30 cal. M-1 Rifles. Gunners and Asst Gunners carried .45 cal Colt automatic pistols. Other platoons in Weapons Company were armed with .81mm mortars, and 3.5 rocket launchers, and M-1 flamethrowers.

Comments: I have several photos from the Estate of my Grand mother who has since passed away and would like to know if there are any brave men who fought for our country still out there in these pictures. They look like pictures of a few celebrations like Christmas, "welcome home tank co." party, a boat on the ocean # 1486, a group of men from a catering welcoming # 278th RCT, a few pictures of tankers comming from the ships to land, another on with ship # 980 on the side showing tanks on land, a man dressin in a Santa suit standing in front of a group a kids in a tank # 52, 3 men in the trees and brush standing in front of a tank with the numbers 74 RCT TK-5?, one of the soliders has his foot in front of the number.Another picture of a soldier woring on a "Master Menu" for August 1954. Very handsom man. Well dressed in his uniform with 3^^^ stripes on his right arm. Please, If there is anone out there who knows what these are, contact me. You might have known my grand mother or a few others who I know of that was in service. Her name was Yvonne Marie Loiselle. She chummed around with a Rita Reynolds. They were bothe from Lowell, Massachusetts. I am her grand daughter and since cleaning up a few boxes I found these pictures, I would hate to distroy them if they mean something to someone else. Please contact me via my email or by "snail" \mail. Comments: Getting older and just wondered if anybody remembers me during that time period. I'll be 68 in a few days. so I was 18 at that time. If anybody can recall being in that Unit, I'd be interested in swapping stories.

Comments: A message was posted by jaluck@optonline.net about a year ago on my web site asking for information regarding a photo.
I have the wanted information but the supplied email adress is not good, just in case someone who knows the person who was asking for information here is what I have tried to send in reply
Lee Helle here, I have my 1965 Camp Beard year book and when the book was made the Bn Chaplains last name was White and his assistants name was SP4 Ratliff and yes your man is Ratliff. Looking at the picture I would guess he was 3-5 years younger than I was at the time which means he will be 60-66 years of age today. Somewhere buried in the army archives will be copies of morning reports which would at least have his full name. I recognized Ratliff in the picture not by name but by his ears.
