Comments: I served in Tank Company, 34th Infantry Regiment, for almost a year. From there I was transferred to HHC, 34th Inf. Regt., as Regimental Commander's Bugler. At HHC, I was assigned to the Security Guard Platoon.
Regimental Commander was COL Keith L. Ware, and the Company Commander at that time was CPT A.B. Brown.
Would love to hear from anyone.
I retired January 1, 1977.

Keywords: I am looking for my grandfather, he served in the Korean War. He would be African American and would have a daughter named Kang Mi Ok (my mother's name before she came to the US). I understand that having a mixed child then was a big deal but I can't seem to find my grandmother who is Korean. I know my grandmother was a twin and my mother was born in 1959. My mother told me that her father was stationed near the place she lived. She was born in Seoul, South Korea. I know this is like finding a needle in a hay stack but I would like to know more about my mother's family. If anyone has any information please email me.

Comments: I feel very sorry for the troops in Iraq if their treated like the Vets from Korea. I did dem. work with C3, Nitrostarch, primer cord with no hearing protection. Went to get hearing aid and was told that the VA had stopped giving glasses and hearing aids cause it was costing the Gov. to much money............WOW WHEN WE'RE ALL GONE THEY WILL DO LIKE THEY DID FOR WW 2 VETS. To little to late.. Keep the faith.

LOOKING FOR MY GRANDFATHER |
 |
 |
SHANDA DICKSON wrote on 2004-11-23 12:21:43.0
Comments: I am researching Army photos from 1959 in Seoul Korea in a search to find my grandfather. My grandmother was a native of Korea in 1958-59 when she met a young Italian/Greek Army soldier and George from New Jersey/New York that she fell in love with and not long after that she was pregnant with my mother. When the young solider went back to the U.S., he wrote my grandmother and sent money for my mother. My grandmothers stepfather did not approve of the situation so he wrote my grandfather back and told him that my grandmother and my mother had died. So, my grandfather has no idea that his daughter is alive and living in Atlanta, Georgia.
We are not sure of his last name due to the language difference between the two, but we have a picture of him and know his first name was George from New Jersey/New York, Italian or Greek and was stationed in Seoul, Korea in 1958/59. Since you had photos from and around this time, I was wondering if you were able to give my any helpful information that would help me find my grandfather. I do know he was around 60-62, dark hair and we also know he maybe had an usually last name, maybe Italian. Thank you so much for your time!
