Comments: My grandfather always told us about how he was in the Navy during the Korean War. He passed away almost 20 years ago when I was about 13 and I wished I had been old enough then to know valuable his memories were. His name was Ken Roenicke and I was wondering if anyone out there knew him. I would love to get to know him again. I miss him dearly.

Comments: I the info I have on him is: Carroll S. Rodgers. DOB: June 28, 1930. He died in April of 1985. I have a Navy picture of I guess his unit in 1948 in San Diego, CA. It has written at the bottom, Comapny 20 July 19, 1948 US Naval hospital Corps School. San Diego, CA. I also have a scrap book that he put his pictures in from his time in Yokosuka, Japan. I don't know exactly when he was there, but there is a card in there from 1953. So, I do know he was there during that time. I have a picture of the front of The Community Church of Yokosuka. I don't know if that was being used as a hospital or not. Just trying to pass along any info for those that were there and to find any of his mates. Any help would be appreciated. There are various pictures of individuals I assume were his friends. He was originally from Arkansas. I don't if he enlisted in Arkansas or Louisiana. Again, any help is much appreciated.

Comments: MY SHIP WAS THE USS CALIENTE AO 53. I REMBER THE DAY OF THE INVASION VERY WELL. I DO NOT REMEMBER THE DATE. IT MUST HAVE BEEN IN THE SUMMER OR IN THE EARLY FALL OF 1952. I DID NOT KNOW AT THE TIME THAT IT WAS A MOCK INVASION. BUT THE WEATHER WAS TERRIBLE WITH HUGE SEAS, I DID NOT THINK IT WAS POSSIBLE FOR THE M-BOATS TO GET IN TO THE BEACH. BUT I HAVE NEVER HEARD THE STORY OF JUST WHAT HAPPENED AND WHY?
Keywords: MY SHIP WAS PART OF THE MOCK INVASION OF WONSON HARBOR IN 1952. BUT I DO NOT SEE THE CALIENTE LISTED. WHY?

Comments: My grandfather served with the US Navy in the Korean War. He ranked as a SN and from what I was told he was the person who drove the landing ships ashore from the larger ships. He served with Company K from Waynesburg, PA. He was enlisted from 1950 to 1954. I am looking for anyone that may have served with this same company. His name was William Joseph Church but he went by Bill.

General Search
I am interested in finding info on naval air operations during the
Korean War and in particular I'd like to delve into the accounts of
those pilots KIA. Is there any place online that I might find or
request such information?
My compliments on the wonderful presentation you and your group of
volunteers have put together on this topic.
Regards,

I know my grandfather (Edward Joseph Cimburek) was in the Navy. He was
located in the Phillipines during the war. He was with 13 other people
when thier sea-plane crashed. This is what I found out. A sea-plane
usually went on a flight with 14 crew members. On that particular day 2
people called in sick.
One however, decided he could fly. The other one didn't go. The signals
on the plane indicated water below. (That was the only part of land they
could safely come down on.) They were having trouble with their engine.
Instead of landing they crashed into the side of Mt. Baton. Those men
were only 30 days from coming home. I hope this helps. This is all I
know. Thanks for your time and your help.
Sincerely,
Anna Cimburek
