Comments: I want to know more about my dad, Lt Robert Lawrence. He died in 1955 in a peacetime flight after serving as a fighter pilot in the Navy for WWII & the Korean War. He was a decorated officer, and I know quite about his exploits during the Korean War. I do not know what he flew in WWII nor what he flew for what carrier(s) he was attached to. I want toknwo more abotu my dad who lost his life when I was only 9 monhts old

Comments: I served on the BHR only one cruise in 1968 in an air squadron. Handle "Blueblazers." In that year we lost three pilots. I wanted to mention their names so they won't be forgotten. Our skipper Cdr. RR Wilson, Lt.jg. Barry Karger, and MIA/KIA Lt. Cdr. Frank Fullerton. RIP
One person here wanted to know how the BHR got it's name. My understanding is Benjamin Franklin's book "Poor Richard's Almanac" is how the Bonnie Dick got her name.

Comments: My father was lost at sea during heavy waters when the ship was in the South Pacific near Japan, He was KIA shortly before he was due to come home to us, and said to be on his final cruise. I only have stories of dad. He came home to see us in the fall of 1958, but I was not quite a year old then.
My father's name was James Alfred Blackmon. I would really like to hear from anyone who knew my dad. Thanks to all of your for your service to our Country.

I'm just curious as to why the "Gray Ghoast" isn't listed as being
in the Korean conflict? Outstanding record fighting in three wars.WWII,
Korea, and Vietnam. The only carrier to do so! She may be scrap now
but in her days, she was a mighty sight to see. Another BHR will be
launched this summer...or at least christened.
