Comments: My grandfather was in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. I don't recall the name of his ship that he said he was on. I loved him very much and I am thinking about writing a memoir about him. Any information anyone could give me about him would be so great. His name Was Sydney Thomas Jones, but he also went by Sid and maybe even his last name. I don't know what exactly he sailors went by name wise. He was a machinist mate. He got a Purple Heart. He cut his thumb off during a work accident. My grandfather was right around 6 feet tall with dark brown hair, almost black. His eyes were light light blue in color.

Comments: I'm looking for any stories or anyone who knew my grandfather. Or any stories at all about the Midway and the Korean War. My grandfather passed away 5 years ago, and I'm the only one who ever heard any of his old stories, I wish I knew more. If you can tell me anything, or might possibly have some old pictures, please let me know. I do have his old book, from the Cruise of 1955, where he is pictured twice in the book, anything else would be spectacular. Thanks you.

Comments: Dad served on Midway from Aug 1948 thru Dec 1951. Think he was in Gunnery & Fire Control field. His name was Charles Damon Moore from Eastern Kentucky. Nickname was TurkeyKnob and he played the guitar and sang country music. His brother Kenneth Moore "Fiddle" was also on the ship. His best friend, Al Knauer worked in the boiler room I think. Did anyone know them?

Center that served from 1962 to 1966. With my computer and the ability

members that served during that era.

We are dedicated to having Reunions, where we can all sit around talking
of old times (old times are always better than new ones), having a few
brews, telling a few sea stories and making up new ones if old ones
don't come to mind. At the present time we don't even collect dues, we
pass the hat when monies are needed.

I publish a 10/12 page newsletter every other month, with reunion info,
ex-shipmates found, pictures of the guys from Midway days(members have
found) and other items of interest.
