Comments: Looking for anyone who served aboard the USS Oriskany from 1958 to 1961 or 1962. My grandfather was aboard that ship from those estimated times. Lloyd Babbitt. Just wanted to know if anyone knew him? He passed away years ago due to kidney failure which we believe to pass to his brain and caused an anourism. Also if anyone had a year book around that time of the Oriskany, where can I find one made in those years of the USS Oriskany?

Comments: Served off the Korean coast 1952-53 I Helped save pilots if they crashed landed. It was dangerous job at times. We had more crashes off the California coast and lost more pilots practicing landings than we did during the Koran War.We only lost four pilots off Korea and nine off the Caliornia coast which shows they got much better with training.I love the big"o" but it was really scary on the flightdeck and I was glad to see my time to come home come. I hung out with my trade off men one day on one day off in the "hotsuit" his name was Jaramillo from Selenas, Ca. Another "hotsuitman"name was Kirby I would like to hear from anyone from the V-1division

Comments: After serving 6 years in the Navy I joined the US Coast Guard. I retired in 1986 from the Coast Guard in Charleston, SC. I worked 20 years with the Charleston Commissioners Of Public Works and retired in 2005. We are both retired and enjoying our kids and grands. I was able to locate Kirkland and Robbie Roberston.

Comments: Hello:

I am looking for anyone who may have known my father Lewis Friedland. He was aboard the U.S.S. Oriskany from 1951-1954. I believe he completed Boot Camp at Bainbridge. He was an artist for the ship's newspaper and he was friends with a guy named Jim, possibly Jim Laco the editor of the Champ. My Dad was with the journalist core and was known for his artistic talent. He created the Ship Mascot "Mothball." I have many pictures to share and would love to put names to the faces. My Dad had an extensive collection of photographs. Thanks so much!

I would love to hear from anyone who remembers him, and maybe a few stories that I wasn't aware of. He became a very private person about his service in WWII and Korea after the was was over. I was only about 3 year old when he helped commission the Oriskany.

I am an adoptee looking for pieces of my family. I have recently
discovered that my father's brother served aboard the Oriskany in 1954.

My Uncle's last name was Young, my mother said she thought his first
name started with an O. After he got out of the Navy he changed his
name to Dave Gardner and became a nightclub comedian.

Could you provide me with any information about this man? Any little
thing would mean alot to me. He also might have been recognizable by
his southern drawl , he was from Kentucky.

I thank you for your time
