Comments: My father was in WWll as well as korea. he was in the navy and I believe a chief petty officer. He never talked about the war days and he passed away 33 years ago. William Lester Pettit ( Bill) I think he did say he was on the ship that brought McArthur home. The only family members left are myself and my sister,his daughters. I would desperately like to learn about the days my father spent in the Navy. I know that he was on the Nashville Dec 20th 1942 at sea. He was stationed out of San Diego. I believe my Father was a Hot Shell Gunman in a Turret. And he transported Officers to shore with some type of smaller watercraft/vessel. He also would drive this small boat around the carrier and do watch.
