Comments: Was in for duration of Korean War 1950 to end of 1953, discharged 1954, Long Beach, CA. MAA/4th & 5th Div. BM3

Looking for John and Ray Paul

Comments: looking for the two brothers I grew up with back in New Kensington Pa. We joined the Navy together back in 1948, went to Boot camp together and they went to the St. Paul and I went to the tin can Navy. We got together later in 1951 in San Deigo while they were on the St.Paul in the Engineering dept. That's our last contact and I sure would like to get in touch with them before they put me under. The VA has diagnosed him with mesothelioma as his primary illness and Agent Orange as his secondary. Everything I've read tells me that A.O. didn't come around until the Vietnam War. I need info on how he might have come in contact with A.O. during his service. He is very sick. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Searching the Seas For Some Sailors

Comments: My Grandfather had triple bypass a couple years ago and he's really slowing down. While recovering we spent many hours talking about those NEVER talked about times like it was yesterday. As he told the stories, with teary eyes, he mentioned being in a typhoon. He said the waves were so high that they would buckle some of the larger ships. If anyone served with my Grandfather please send a message. I have a picture of everyone in their dress uniform standing on deck.

My Dad

Comments: Hello.. My Dad Robert E. Doyle served on the USS St Paul. I know this as I have a photo of him taken on 8/7/53. My Dad passed away this past Saturday and I have been trying to get any information about his time in the service. My Dad did not talk alot about the war and his sister told me that when he came home he was in a lot of trauma for a long time. When I was younger he told me that his ship fired the last round in the war. I was wondering if there was anyone out there that had photos of my Dad or the time when he was there.. Please email me and God Bless you all.. My Dad was from Boonville Missouri and everyone called him BoB.. He also got a tattoo while in Koren, A star on his left hand near his thumb and pointer finger, he told me that he and several of his buddies all got this same tattoo..I hope someone out there knew him and can email me....

Looking for Jim Alexander

Comments: I think I got my comments in the wrong "block" but, I would love to get in touch with Jim Alexander, my brother's friend on the St. Paul. I do not know what unit or division Paul Morgan was in, so, I am not much help. I would appreciate any info you are able to give me. I miss my brother very much and for this July 4th, I want to remember him and to say we live in the best country in the world...all because of our wonderfully brave military!! God bless.

He passed away with cancer in 1984 and he was always trying to locate his best friend James (Jim) Alexander and was not able to locate him. I would like to do this for my brother Paul, in his memory. CHIEF PETTY OFFICER RAYMOND HINES

Comments: Dad (Raymond E. Hines) was on the USS St. Paul, during the Korean War. He acquitted himself well as a sailor, and later worked for the Federal Aviation Agency and Naval Electronics Systems Engineering Center in Vallejo. Dad was a good provider and hard worker who could also enjoy life, who enjoyed a marriage of more than fifty years to Emily (my mom) before passing in 2001.

I wanted to honor his memory this Memorial Day weekend.

Comments: I went aboard the Saint Paul in October of 1951 and transfered in December of 1954. I was in the 6th Div for about 18 months and transfered to the commissary div for the reminder of my time aboard.

50-51 cruise book

Comments: Hello, my father, Edwin Meyer, served aboard the St. Paul in 53 and 54 (Korean war)in turret 1. I went looking for a cruise book but got the wrong one. So, I have a 12 Aug. 50 - 21 May 51 cruise book to sell. It is in great condition and comes with some added photos and misc. items from a previous owner. I will part with it for what I paid: $60.00. I am also in the market fo a 3rd-cruise book 53-54. If anyone knew Ed Meyer (eddie), I am sorry to say his new address is the Golden Gate National Cemetary. He past away in 94.
