Comments: On May 13,2005 my father Jerrold W. Allen passed away. He will be dearly missed. My dad served aboard the USS Toledo sometime during the Korean conflict. I think between 51-53. I would love to hear from those who knew my dad, and hear what ever stories you would like to share about him.

Thank you,

Greg Allen

Comments: When i came across the web site, i had to give my dad a call to reconfirm on service entry and time of year that he was on the USS TOLEDO CA133. The year was 1949 to 1952. My father has shared alot of great stories with me (son) like the one about the invasion on Inschon. My dad is still much alive and doing well in his home in Corpus Christ, TX. My dad was born in Mc Allan, TX up till the time he joined the Navy in 1947 on his 18th birthday. The numbers posted is where my dad can be reached, which i have already discussed with him on what i am doing. Im sure he would like to talk about old times. Thanks for the stories from my dad and the friends he talk about. Frank L. Miller

Comments: I am interested in locateing a yearbook from this time. My father-in-law served on the USS TOLEDO during the Korean War. Please let me know if there is a way to get one or if someone could copy and send to me. I have a newsletter from that time and would love to add a yearbook to my sons collection. Thank you all for serving your Country. We are proud of each and every one of you.

Does anyone have pictures of Ed Schroeder? He was always walking on his hands and had awoody woodpecker tattoo on his leg. We have many photos but no names on the back of them. (Some just say Beer Party) Can anyone tell me about them?

Sincerely - Mrs. Edward H. Schroeder III

Comments: My grandfather, Charles E. Baysinger, just recently passed away on March 20, 2004. I know that he was a crew member on this ship, among others. Though he has always shared stories with his family about his experiences during his service, I am overwhelmed with the feeling that there was so much more to know. I know that he is a Korean War Veteran, so this is where I start my search. In addition, I know that he has received a Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star, but I am not sure when he received them, and what exactly he received them for. If anybody has any information on Charles Baysinger, or any guidance in helping my search, please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.

The passing of Billy Ray Rayburn

David Rayburn wrote on 2004-02-08 13:39:00.0

Comments: I'm a little late in posting this here, but I think you all deserved to know. Billy Ray Rayburn passed away this last April in Boise, Idaho. He was on board the Toledo from 1950-53, and worked with those powerful eight-inch guns. I've heard many stories over the years and I am thankful that I can still remember many of them. If anyone knew my dad, I would love to hear from you. Also, I am desperately looking for any photos of the crew (which may include him) from those days. I have never seen one of those yearbooks I hear about. I am also on the lookout for any mementos from the ship from that era. Bill was a great man and he was damn proud of his service on the CA-133... so much that it's passed on to me. As long as I live, the Toldeo will not be forgotten.
