The group is scattered in FL and up the east coast and several in central US and on the west coast. Anyone interested in locating a specific person is advised to call me at 757 340 5922.

Comments: Former members of VF 22, their families and friends have planned a reunion for Oct 21 & 22, 2003 in Orange Park at the Holiday Inn, south of NAS JAX. Bring pictures, cruise books and any items of interest for the get together of those who remember this great outfit after 50 years. Rember the Fire on the flight deck of the Champ? This Week Magazine published several pictures of the fire and the flight operations. Life Magazine published some pictures of the Champ in the war. We have the original magazine pictures for you to see. I have a 20 minute video of the VF 22 people leaving JAX, at sea, in various world ports to be seen at this reunion. I personally took the 8mm movies and had them converted to VHS a couple of years ago. We look forward to seeing you in JAX

Comments: I'm a writer on the Baltimore Sun. I'm interested in doing a piece on Ensign Edwin N. Broyles, who was lost over Korea on Jul 26 1953, the day before the truce began. He was assigned to VF 22 aboard the U.S.S. Champlain. I would appreciate anything anyone knows about Ensign Broyles, especially from people who might have served with him. But I am interested in everything I can learn about him. Thanks, Carl Schoettler

Comments: I'm just an interested person who likes to read history, particularly the Naval/Marine Corp air war over Korea. About 10 years ago I built a 1/72nd scale model of a McDonell F2H-2 Banshee, with VF-22 markings. I'm curious if anyone would or could share any background or history on VF-22. It's virtually impossible to find anything, other than passing references in various books. For other interested readers, check out www.history.navy.mil, for links to several .PDF files on WWII, Korea, Vietnam and present day activities.

I was with you guys on the FDR and the Saipan, at Cecil Field and
Atlantic City. I transferred to Fasron 6 when you went to the Med on the
Tarawa.

I see that VF-22 went to Korea in 1953.I was released to inactive duty
on Sept. 1, 1952.I just saw a picture of Commander Fly in a 1950 Naval
Aviation News I just obtained.

Are any of you guys still out there?

I was a retread from WWII. Passed the test for third class AO twice but
didn't get it until 1953 in the Reserves.Like to hear from someone from
VF-22 any period of service. Or from any squadron in CAG4, or the Tarawa
from 1951-1952 cruise, or who went to Korea in 1953 with VF-22.(USS Lake
Champlain and CAG-4, VF-62,VF-44,VF111,VA-45,VC-4 Dt-44,VC-12 Det-44,VC
33 Det 44,HU-2 Det).

Also trying to get squadron history going back to WWII.I was the first
Reserve in VF-22 in 1950 from the Korea callup.

Any shipmates please respond.

I picked up on your web site and links - very nice. I'm writing a book
on my experiences as a fighter pilot with the 7th Fleet.

There's lot's of material on the ground war but very little on the air
war (especially the Navy's role).

If you have any links to Naval Air, I would appreciate them.
