Comments: Golden Mountain Goats at relay site Panama, near K 10 chinhae in 1954. Also briefly at K 55(HQ), and Sachun and Sachon PO. Beautiful at Topside on "Kalpine" - 3 or 4 mile climb from base camp overlooking K 10. and Koje Do to the south. Anya Hashem Nika!

2nd radio relay Taegu,Korea 1953

Comments: Looking for airmen that served with me or any one that served on Pluto relay 1953. Would like to find orders or documentation for that perior on my service.

Requesting information from 5th comm. group origanization reguarding all members that are listed as serving with the 2nd radio squadron, especially those that served on Pluto Relay 1953.

I would also appreciate hearing from the 5th comm. group historian concerning his knowledge and records that may be of interest to me about Pluto relay and the airmen that served on that site.

Golden Mountain Goats of 2nd RR, 5th CG

Comments: I was in the 2RR from July 1958 to Dec 1959 while it was in Okinawa. Pulled TDY's in Formosa, Japan, Korea, and Nam. Also in 3RR at Shaw AFB, S.C. in 1960. While at Shaw, went TDY to Ft. Lewis, WA. Anybody out there during those times.

2nd Radio Relay

Comments: My father was an Air Police with the 2nd Radio Relay. He ofter talks about his time there and the people he served with with fondness and respect. He is still healthy and with his wits about him (Thank God) and asked me to help find out more about the 2nd RR and the 5th Comm. He tells me at the time he was only 19 and very wet behind the ears (See why I love him?) and like most, in a fog so he did not learn a lot about where he was. Any information about the units would be great. If you know him, Austin F. Loftus, I will pass on the information to him. In case you do not want to talk to me he lives in Manistique, MI and is listed in the telephone book (Google will find him)

Comments: I was told, many years ago, that 2nd Radio Relay, predecessor of 1st Mobile Communications Group (1st MOB), lost the colors and Korea and thus 1st MOB could never return to the states. Anyone know anything about this?

Comments: Would like to find out more about my father's military history. He didn't talk to much about it. He passed away on October 26th, 2000 in Dallas Texas but was originally from a small town named Chocowinity (near Washington) in North Carolina. 2nd radio relay sqdn,seoul university,moscow,&rickey sites

Comments: i was in radio maintance at both moscow and rickey sites.i was at moscow site from march to october and rickey site october to december 1953.i can remember having some great times and a couple of bumpy roads along the way.like the time the windy road up to mascow site washed out and we almost went over the side with me in back of the truck. have lote more stories to share.1 am now 72 years old, boy how the time flies.

2nd Radio Relay Dec 52-Dec 53

Comments: Arrived at Seoul City Univ where 2nd Radio Relay was located. Think part of 1st Radio relay also there. Castle was hqs, officers quarters, Senior NCO quarters, some offices and Mess Hall. I was AP and was billeted in open bay on 2nd floor of nearby school bldg. Recall nightly calls by bedcheck Charlie and the lousy food we had. Recall bombings in Seoul and wandering arnd the countryside with other APs who had no trouble getting vehicles from motorpool or stealing one from higher hqs. Recall doing guard duty on trains that ran from Pusan to Taegu and then to Seoul. Recall escorting equipment from Seoul to site in Taegue when one of their troops went nuts and slaughtered some comrades there. Stayed at Seoul hqs until end of June then went to Paris site near Chonan. Paris was flight hqs for sites paris, Rickey and Panama (or Manila?). Was in charge of APs on site then became site commander as staff sgt. Capt Harf was OIC of flight and was replaced by a Lt Thaylor. MSgt Woodrow Wilson Taylor? was flight NCOIC. Major Sergeant replaced Capt Harf. Gp CO was a Col Schloss who was replaced by another Col abt time of truce. Visited Panama site as paymaster once and got to see the swimming pool but did not make it to Rickey. Have some old 8mm movies of those times. Ken Balog
