Comments: Old Lieutenant Press announces Trish Schiesser's latest book "These Guys" Cold War Stories Told by Cold War Warriors, Collected and Edited by Schiesser, SSGT Phil Noland's *USAFSS*, sister. The book contains 240 first person stories told by those who served during the Cold War Era between Russia and the U.S. The book is filled with stories by those who were in the USAFSS in intelligence communications, and stories of pilots in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Trish Schiesser collected and edited "These Guys" during her seven year research study about the USAFSS, among other entities. She began the book as a story about her brother, SSGT Phil Noland who was a Radio Intercept Analyst for the USAFSS then found so many good men who also served in the USAFSS that she decided to use their personal stories, hence the book, "These Guys." It has been highly praised by all of those who have purchased it, and is in the library of congress, the library of The Wilson Center for International Scholars (CWHIP) in Washington, D.C. and will appear in The Cold War Times in Nov. issue, by Francis Gary Powers, Jr., and appear in The Cold War Museum in Fairfax, VA created and run by Francis Gary Powers, Jr. If you are interested in the high praise reviews of this fascinating history book of Cold War Era Intelligence, etc., please send for a copy by contacting: portengineerbob@msn.com or Clara19126@msn.com. The cost of the book is $24.00 includes s&h and tax. Send for your copy today. It is written by guys like YOU. And, we thank you for your fine service to your country during the Cold War.
Old Lieutenant Press and (Trish Schiesser, Author, Literary Consultant and Editor, and sister of SSGT Phil Noland).

Comments: I was a 292 that was stationed at Onna Point from May 1957 to Feb 1959. There was a bunch of guys that came down from Japan in 1958, all real good guys. Bob Guiterez was one, we became friends. When I shipped back to Kelley in 1959, Bob came shortly behind me. We had a lot of fun times in San Antonio too. I have never seen his name listed in any of the contacts anywhere. Does anyone know about him?
Keywords: Mike Friends: Too many to list, but here's a few. Bob Gnat, Bob Guiterez, Don 'Whitey" Andrele,Pat Sullivan, none of these guys are listed under the contact list.

Just read your statement about Chuck Norris. I also tried in vain to get in touch with him, since we were stationed at Osan at the same time. Sad to say what happens to people who become famous. Bet he walked in the same mud we did in Chicol village, among other things..
I remember you....I also was with the 6314 Comm. Sqdn. teletype operator..Email me at cedarkey@verizon.net.

Maureen Hunt wrote on 2009-05-05 14:13:27.0
Comments: A "friend" of the family told me during the summer of 1999 that my father was previously married and that there was, she believed, a son born. Since this has never come up in family conversation and I am "sworn to secrecy" I need to take it upon myself to find out if this is true. My oldest sister believes that she was named after the mother, Regina. My parents were married 2-24-57, so the marriage was before that, naturally. Come summer, I have been harboring this information for 10 years. My parents are not the "ask me anything" type, so I have to slueth this out on my own. My father was in the Air Force: basic in Texas and then stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and either stationed or visited Colorado and San Francisco. He was born Robert Meade Hunt, Jr. (he dropped the Jr. after his father died). Maybe you think this is none of my business since my parents never talked about it, but I'm going to be 48 years old by the end of May and I've always wanted a brother.

USAFSS assigned 1950/1953 mainly Japan w/TDY to Korea.
US AirForce Security Service (USAFSS). 1st Radio Squadron Mobile at
Johnson AFB and then to 15th RSM at Ashiya, Japan when that unit was
activated in Aug. 51 til rotation in July 53.
Guess we qualified as Korean war people as we got the ribbons and
medals and were not considered part of the Japanese occupation forces
since we were not allowed the occupation medal for that period. We had
several detatchments in Korea though and I made it over there several
times.
