Comments: I AM LOOKING FOR ANYONE FROM MY OLD OUTFIT THAT REMEMBERS ME. I WAS A CORPSMAN WITH THE 2ND PLATOON, LIGHT MACHINE GUN SQUAD, 2ND BATTALION, 1ST REGIMENT, 1ST DIV. SOME YEARS AGO I REC'D. A WONDERFUL TRIBUTE FROM SOME BUDDIES IN THE FORM OF A POEM SOME OF THEM WROTE FOR CORPSMEN. IT WAS FROM A MEMBER OF MY SQUAD, H.D. DEWEESE, WHO WAS FROM LOUSIVILLE, KY. OTHERS WERE J.O. GOODRUM, G.W. BEAM, D.R.WILLIAMS, AND A GUY NAMED WHITTAKER. MY BEST FRIEND, JIM DUFFIN WAS WITH THE 3RD PLATOON, ALSO A CORPSMAN,KIA ON 11/29/50, ATTACHED TO THE DRYSDALE UNIT THAT WENT TO HAGARU, AND WHEN THEY GOT BACK WERE OVERRUN BY CHINESE IN THEIR PERIMETERS. MOH BRUCE MATTHEWSON WAS IN THE SAME HOLE WITH JIM. WE ALL HAD A BAD NIGHT WITH THEM IN OUR HOLES, AND WE LOST A LOT OF GOOD MEN. JIM WAS IN THE MASS GRAVE AT KOTO-RI, AND MY FAMILY TALKED TO HIS WHEN THEY GOT THE NEWS OF HIS DEATH. I HOPE THE CORPS FINALLY GOT HIM BACK TO REST IN ILLINOIS. MY NICKNAME WAS "DOC BLUE", AND OF COURSE ALL THE CORPSMEN WERE CALL "DOC", BUT MY UNIT REALLY TOOK CARE OF ME, AS I WAS READY TO DO THE SAME FOR THEM AT ANY TIME....ANY RESPONSE WOULD BE GREAT, I MISSED REUNINIONS, ETC. BEFORE I GOT ON THE NET. NOW I'M LOOKING!

I know that he was only 19 years old when he joined the Marines, and only in for a little while before his death.

Comments: Anyone who has info on guys in my Plt. Names addresses or E-Mail. Only one Killed in my Plt. was Corporal Richard James Knight. Two wounded Joe Baresh in the shoulder, the other was John Savona He was shot through the right Kidney. Both were wounded coming out of HORSESHOE RIDGE. Our ammunition Sgt, S/Sgt Al Cobb, Went bezerk there also after getting a DEAR JOHN letter. They are all OK now back Home.

John Richard Robinson - Charlie Company

Comments: My husband was in the 1st Marines 1,1, Charlie Company in Korea, in 1952 I believe. I would like to have some history about him for his only son. His name: John Richard Robinson from Vancouver, Washington.Born in 1930. He also would not talk about the war very much. He did have 4 purple hearts, a bronze star, ect.
