On or around November 22 or 23, 1952 they were flown to Tokyo, Japan and boarded a ship to the US. The ship had mechanical problems but did make it to the US. They docked at Long Beach, California where they were givena parade and fanfare due to the amount of purple hearts awarded (9 Marines, 17 Purple Hearts)

Thanks in advance for any information.

Comments: To the men of the 1St Marine Regt, 2Nd Bn. One of your fine officers passed away on May 10,2008. 1St Lt G. Guthrie Conyngham was 84 years old. He was wounded in central Korea on Sept 14, 1951. His son entered a entry 60426 on 2007-03-22. Anyone from Guthries outfit remembering him would comfort the family with any responses. I have known Guthrie since possibly 1939 also his brother Jack also a Marine officer. Both gentleman of the first line. I was in Korea at the time Guthrie was and learned of his being wounded from my brother a former Marine in the 3Rd Marine Division of Iwo Jima, since passed away. At times in Korea our 3 man 101St Signal Bn radio relay team on some isolated hill would have a squad of Marines as guards--cake walk for them but deep sense of security to us--never enough thanks.
